"As we get ready to celebrate the holidays, covering our tables with the fruits of migrant workers labor, I am wondering if we can do one more thing....for them." Marge Bermann Libre Initiative Michigan in coordination with St. Gregory Catholic Church Hart, Michigan
In late October, a special need came to our Grand Knight's Gerry Kneeshaw attention. There was an immediate need for jackets for migrant farm workers in the Hart/Shelby area.
The Knights of Columbus Council 7115 sprang into action. Led by Coats for Kids Committee Chairman John Dacloush, the combined parishes of St. Francis DeSales and Our Lady of the Lake and Council 7115 responded in true Christ like fashion.
By the Numbers the Coats for Kids program:
- Donated Cash: $2,100
- Donated Jackets: and purchased jackets for adults and children: 500
- Purchased Jackets for St. Gregory Catholic Church: Hart, MI: 24 and six very large bags of adult winter accessories.
- Over 400 coasts were distributed to St. Vincent DePaul and the Holland Men's Rescue Mission
Marge Bermann was so thankful and overwhelmed by the generosity and praised God for the support.
Alyssa Gaerte Mission Coordinator for Our Lady of the lake commented how awesome the Knights are and how active we are. Great job to everyone.
